Within Fontaine the children of the rich & wealthy can directly influence the image of their parents, for better or worse. Thus these children would grow up with heavy expectations, to aim for perfection in order to avoid tarnishing their family name — or face the consequences.
Silvanus has little interest in engaging in Fontainian high society, despite her affluent parents. The only perk of being born into wealth was the consistent access to first-rate doctors, which allows for her to keep up the act of a perfectly healthy academic with ease. Silvanus has perfected her performance over the years and very few people have been able to see through her act, but it made for a miserable & painful existence. Silvanus wanted nothing more than to live a life out of the spotlight, to have no exceptions, no prying eyes.
But she has no idea how she ended up as an assistant to Chief Justice Neuvillette of all people.
Well, she did know. But she certainly wasn’t expecting a low-level internship at the Fortress of Meropide to allow her to climb the ranks of Fontaine’s complex legal system, and directly into the Iudex’s office.
Silvanus had expected even more eyes to be fixated on her every move now, but was surprised to find that that walking in the Chief Justice’s shadow throughout the day was the perfect hiding spot. To keep up with his demanding schedule of appointments & trials, Silvanus always found herself running out of time. Meaning no time could be wasted on frivolous thinking: such as her various troubles of chronic pain & anxiety. She found them slipping away with ease, as if they never existed in the first place
